Play started late on the first day but the wet weather certainly seemed to help with those fast greens and there was some low scoring going on. This update is written whilst round one is still underway as the late start meant quite a few didn't finish their round
The popular picks
The top 5 popular picks are going ok (obviously apart from the one I chose) which means we could be in for some good m7 scores: Scheffler (2), Niemann (6), Smith (10), Koepka (32), Matsuyama (75)
Overall scoring
76 of us are at 100 pts or below, similar to last year, which is not a bad starting point for end of day 1. It is as you'd imagine incredibly bunched
Oli 'Aphibarnrat' Roland-Jones leads the way on 30 points closely followed by Chris 'COK' O' Keeffe on 37 and Jeanette 'Jimmy' Hennix / Danny 'Bin' Grimes on 38
Special mention to newbie Rob 'Nosey' Parker who is lurking in 5th just behind the places.
The top 16 looks like:
and you have Jim 'Steve' McMahon also on 54 points in 17th
15 of you at the moment have all 7 players going through which could prove helpful. This quite astonishingly includes 97th placed Tiso 'Know something I don't?' Faletoese who surely can't stay that low if 7 go through
Only 5 of you have less than 5 through currently. BOTR could be the place to be!
Last years Masters podium players were on around 40-50 points at end of round 2, so that is roughly what to aim at. Lots of golf left so let's see where we all are at the end of round 2
