And we are ready for the last M7 of the year. The last hurrah, the final countdown, the.... yeah ok you get it. Last chance to bring home some cash before the long 9 month wait begins
Full picks in the email I sent and can be seen by going to https://m7golf.wixsite.com/m7golf/leaderboard.
Any objections please raise before THE Open tees off. N.B. "My picks are sh*t" is not a valid objection - that is your own fault
There are 100 of us going for the big prizes (+ our good friends Control and Wisdom)
Prizes (TBC)
1st - S$5000
2nd - S$2800
3rd - S$1600
Best of Rest (<5 make cut) - S$600
All of you submitted in time - first time this season!! However with absolutely no chance is Stuart 'Apple' McIntosh as he won the US Open a few weeks ago (no one wins back to back M7s) and Matthew 'Beevower' Price winner of last year's Open (no one successfully defends an M7 championship)
91 different players picked which means 58% of the field are involved in M7 in some way! In fact it is actually 83 (53%) valid players as Berger, Noren, Kuchar, Hadwin, McCarthy, Glover, Schwartzel and Rai were all in at least one of the M7 teams and are not playing this weekend. Which means quite a few of you have let yourselves down with the picking. 6 of you are playing M6 and 2 of you are playing M5. The most popular pick is Tommy Fleetwood (66) followed by Rory (58) and Lowry (57)
Not too many more above 20 picks which shows that outside of the top 8 or so picks it is very open (open, get it!)
Xander (54)
Power (44)
Spieth (33)
Leishman (24)
Woods (24)
Macintyre (20)
18 of you have the most popular 3 all in your team (Fleetwood, Rory, Lowry)
12 of you have the most popular 4 all in your team (Fleetwood, Rory, Lowry, Xander)
9 of you have the most popular 5 all in your team (Fleetwood, Rory, Lowry, Xander, Power)....and yes for those wondering that does include Tally.
In fact Tally has the exact same team as Norman
In terms of unique picks, the 1-10 category has Hovland (again) as unique. We had a whopping 23 valid unique picks in all and this could be an M7 first - we have one player with 3 uniques in their 7. Step forward David 'Mob' Barley who has Horschel, KH Lee and Frittelli. Big Ern is the highest ranked OWGR player picked - well done (?) John 'Balsa' Wood Fastest finger - Well done Brian 'Gordon' Bennett (again) Most entries - Marcus 'Dicky' Davies with 7! Leaving it to last minute - Jamie 'The Reverend' Green who also picked 46th ranked Ryan Fox as his pick in 75+ category Live m7 scoring will be up and running tomorrow after tee off on https://m7golf.wixsite.com/m7golf
27 is the M7 record score to beat - set at the Masters last year by Matthew 'Beevower' Price but of course lets not forget the best record of the lot - John 'Cliff' Talbot Snr’s even more incredible record of 500 pts
Reminder - You can't win M7 on the first day but you sure as hell can lose it - Alastair 'Baloney' Loney
