Finally THE Open. We've missed you.....

We head back to Royal St Georges for the 1st time since Darren Clarke won in 2011. Brooks may not like it, but its a cracker of a course and will hopefully keep it interesting all the way to Sunday night (for 2nd place behind Rahm who will be 6 clear of course)

99 of us make our way to the 1st tee with Oliver 'Naked' Martin sharing the view of Brooks that its a dump, and not entering.

Only 2 errors this week which is very low. Adam 'Pirate' Shapiro is an M6er as Matthew Wolff has dropped out (hope he's doing ok as was out for 2 months recently for mental health reasons) and remarkably, Michael 'Pogo' Paterson is playing M5. No Cameron Champ this week, and Casey is too good to get picked in the 21-30 category. Its a tough game for most, but that makes it extra hard.

Given only 80 valid picks, it's quite amazing we have 18 valid unique picks (that means almost 1 in 4 picks is a unique one - not sure we have seen this level before). If some of those go well it could make a massive difference to those with them. If they don't then it may mean a really congested M7 leaderboard. Adam 'Pirate' Shapiro has 4 (!) valid unique picks in his team including world #6 Deshambles - absolutely unheard of (He would maybe have had 5 but one of his picks isn't playing) - so M6 for him with 4 of the 6 uniques. This is Deshambles whose best Open performance is 51st, so maybe he has seen something this week.. maybe. Most popular pick this week is not surprising as he's gonna win it all. Rahm with 58 picks...but there are other picks with big numbers.....Fleetwood (54), Poulter (44), Lowry (43), Fitzpatrick (43), Oosthuizen (39), Spieth (37), McIlroy (24), Macintyre (23) Ernie Els is the highest OWGR ranked player picked at 758th position, John 'Balsa' Wood the only one with him. Fastest finger - Richard "Half in" Naughton Most entries - Simon 'Toasty' French and Alex 'Dravid' Wall (with 5 entries) Leaving it to last minute - Me and i very nearly missed it!! No one has matched Wisdoms team. Tally has really gone left field with only 5 of them. Clearly must have something against Ousthuizen and Fitzpatrick, its the only possibility. 4 of you (Andrew 'Bullet Baxter' Moffat, reigning Open M7 champ Charlie 'Smirnoff' Vodrazka, Kris 'My Little' Poniman, & Michael 'Leggy Blond Swede' Khor) have the 1st 6, with no one fancying little Rickie Fowler to get the clean sweep!

Wisdom's team 1 - Jon Rahm 13 - Louis Oosthuizen 23 - Matthew Fitzpatrick 33 - Tommy Fleetwood 44 - Shane Lowry 56 - Ian Poulter 95 - Rickie Fowler

If the weather stays like this then updates are unlikely but the latest scores are always on the website.

Good luck all.
