US Open 2024 - Final Standings

lobo2210

Well what an end to a crazy weekend of golf. In the real thing it went down to the final putt, and it was pretty much no different in M7!

I have to admit that being involved at the right end of the M7 table for once in the last few hours was very confusing what with shots being made / dropped all over the place and a million whatsapp messages flying around

An early charge from Scheffler never materialised which hampered a lot in the chasing pack as did a +2 from Smith.

Brian 'Gordon' Bennett was always around the top end of the leaderboard from end of round 2 onwards. 5th going into the final round, he had the 1-2 combo of Bryson and Rory and with Lowry making up 13 places on the final day it was enough to get him into 3rd with 60 points. c.$1600 and some hall of fame points coming your way at the end of the season. The third place doesn't change much though in his terrible hall of fame position of 137th (out of 142)

He will of course be splitting blood that he got beaten by Michael 'Lobo' Loberman in 2nd place with 58 points. Lobo (me) was sitting 2nd going into the final day. When Hubbard (going into day 20th as the worst of his 5 scorers) had two triples in the first 8 holes, it looked all over and he dropped to around 15th. However SW Kim put in an even round which had him in 32nd and gave Lobo something to cling to if his other players performed. And perform they did with the other 4 all ending up in the top 10. This was enough for 2nd place with 58 points, Lobo's first ever podium and c.$2800 winging its way. He enters the hall of fame in 65th

And then we come to our winner - Alex 'Dravid' Wall. He came from 7th place going into the final round and probably owes it to Cupcake's 16 places made up as well as having Bryson win it.

The lead changed hands a lot in he final 2-3 holes. Tom Kim and Hatton bogeys towards the end pushed Brooks up two places and once Matsuyama held firm and Connors bogeyed he 17th it was enough for him (even if Bryson had finished 2nd). c.$5000 on its way but most important is it's Dravid's first entry into the hall of fame and he enters in 26th place

Top looked like this

BOTR goes to Tim 'Nadia' Spragg with 147 points. $600 to you my friend

Wooden Spoon to John 'Balsa' Wood with 322

See you all in a few weeks for THE Open
